These are examples of pieces I have produced recently in the printmaking studio. They involve different processes such as letterpress, screen printing, etching etc.
The landscape section consists of two portfolios: "Wetlands", a series of 33 wide format monoprints from wood blocks and relief etchings, and "Letterscapes", a series of relief etchings, type, printed letterpress.
These are large format reduction, multi-plate, and jig-saw woodcuts on mulberry paper. Numbered and signed; the edition size is typically 15.
This suite of prints, “Matrix LA”, is echoing the pulse of Los Angeles, its flows and snags, its golden promises and bleak frustrations.
The figure work has three portfolios: A series of multi-plate woodcuts, "Origami", 18 aquatints on origami paper, and "Carmina Burana", figures corresponding to some of the lyrics from Carmina Burana, a secular collection of songs from the Middle Ages.
"L.A. Tabulae ad Astra" (Los Angeles: Maps to the Stars) is a suite of prints integrating portions of street maps of Los Angeles with gestural lines, impromptu marks unintentionally produced in the artist’s studio while working on other projects..
